“BODY, AS A FROG” – “SOMETIMES, I WONDER”

Poetry

Body, As A Frog

A million
boiling neurons
clawing for
release.

Raze it slowly
so they don’t
jump out

Sometimes, I Wonder

If the man who shot Wilfred Owen
Knew what he had done
As his poetry book
In his left breast pocket
Touched the Belgian mud

And if the driver of that Pontiac
Was crying just because
I blared my horn
When she cut me off
As we rolled through the stop
